National Conference on Equity and Racial Justice Across Canada

On March 22, 2025, Umair Asif, a PhD student at UNESCO Chair on Sport for Development, Peace and Environment, participated as a panellist in the session titled “Play and Sport as Tools for Equity and Racial Justice,” held at Toronto Metropolitan University during the National Conference on Equity and Racial Justice Across Canada. Organized by the Canadian Network for Equity and Racial Justice, the panel explored how sport and play can be powerful tools to resist racism, promote social justice, and foster inclusion, especially within racialized communities. Umair shared reflections on the transformative potential of sport to challenge systemic inequities and create more inclusive, equitable spaces.
