Call for Papers: re-imagining Sport for Social Change

📢 Call for Papers: Re-imagining Sport for Social Change
Exploring Perspectives from Central and Eastern Europe

Sport has long been seen as a tool for development and peace, but whose perspectives shape this vision? This thematic issue of the Czech Sociological Review invites contributions that critically examine how sport is imagined, utilised, and contested as a catalyst for social change in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

We decided to open this call as we think that our region is not fully covered, considering the topic of sport for social change (sport for development).

We welcome empirical, theoretical, and methodological papers on topics such as:
✅ Sport and social imaginaries in CEE
✅ Historical, political, and economic legacies shaping sport for development
✅ Role of NGOs, social movements, and sport diplomacy
✅ Olympic movement and corporate social responsibility in the region
